Meet Brittany

Hello! I’m Brittany Capozzi. I’m a yoga therapist (C-IAYT) and writer based in Massachusetts.

I work mainly with women and specialize in sensory-based approaches for rebuilding self-trust after pain, trauma, or disconnection. After pain, illness, injury, or trauma, many women learn to hide, brace, and/or disconnect their body in order to move through daily life. Traditional exercise, talk-based approaches, or yoga classes may not address what’s needed. My work offers a slower, sensory based alternative.

Using gentle and functional movement (including breath), sound, handwriting, and brain-based exercises, I support women who find safety by hiding (in) their body by making internal experiences clearer and safer to explore. This work is non-performative and non-fixing. It’s about rebuilding empowerment by learning how one experiences oneself rather than forcing change.

At the heart of these sensory explorations is exploring how we play. (And who doesn’t love playing with a belly dance coin scarf?)

How I work

I offer one-on-one sessions that focus on supporting your understanding of how to experience yourself – so your nervous system doesn’t have to assume or stay on high-alert.

Sessions may include

  • Gentle functional movement and breathing.

  • Belly dance coin scarves to provide auditory and tactile feedback.

  • Brain-based movement (Brain Gym®) to support coordination and learning readiness.

  • Handwriting exploration to observe self-relationship from an objective and compassionate place.

What This Work is (and isn’t)

It is about

  • Increasing body awareness without judgment.

  • Reducing bracing and self-criticism.

  • Improving breath coordination and ease of movement.

  • Rebuilding self-trust and empowerment over time.

The pace is slow on purpose so that the brain/nervous system can digest what’s happening.

For the Senses: Using Coin Scarves and Handwriting

In addition to yoga tools, I invite clients to explore and play with belly dance coin scarves and handwriting. The coin scarves aren’t about dance or performance, their weighted, sound, and visual feedback help us make sense of the messages that the brain is sending us.

The handwriting tool - Trust Fall Writing® - is a way to listen to whatever truths come through our intuition. We listen to a poem or excerpt, choose a line to begin writing from and then write as fast as comfortable. This continuous writing -without editing, questioning, or judging, quiets the areas of the brain that ask us to hide out of fear and label our body as “right,” “wrong,” “good,” and “bad.” In a one-on-one session after writing, we may meet ourselves on the page again, this time by asking and reflecting on non-judgmental questions about our writing voice. This allows us to practice being objective toward ourselves.

I also lead Trust Fall Writing groups. If interested, please visit the “Trust Fall Writing Events” page for more information.
